Innovation and Impact in Design

At GYDE we stand alone in our achievement of design with social impact. Our firm is nationally recognized for our services in greenhouse design, and locally recognized in our ability to provide master planning and sustainable housing solutions for multiple affordable housing projects.

We are inspired as greenhouse designers because our buildings can act as anchors for communities around the world for providing food, social equity, and boosting the economy. GYDE Architects has experience in the design, build, and oversight of a variety of greenhouse projects that specialize in different crops and are located around the United States. Our team is positioned to work with stakeholders to develop cost effective, efficient, and site specific solutions for our clients.

Our most successful project to date is Vertical Harvest of Jackson Hole. A three story greenhouse located in the heart of Jackson, which produces over 100,000 pounds of fresh produce for the community while employing people with different abilities.

GYDE has overseen repeated success in providing master planning, programming, and architectural design services for 11 individual affordable housing projects, consisting of 153 housing units. Key to this track record has been the ability to work integrally with organization boards, local neighborhoods and governing agencies to provide flexible and thoughtful planning, design, scheduling and cost control.

AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROJECTS

WILSON PARK AFFORDABLE HOUSING

Wilson park - The first phase of this project involved a community and landowner workshop to create a neighborhood master plan for the 7-acre parcel of land at the site of the Old Wilson School. The result of this process was a master site plan indicating open space, affordable housing, market rate housing, school district housing and the associated infrastructure. This master plan set the vision for eight of the twenty-six lots for use by The Teton County Housing Authority who developed seven of the eight lots and gave one to Habitat for Humanity for their use.The single family houses range in size from two bedroom/two bath 1,085 square feet units to three bedroom/two bath 1,160 square feet units with attached and detached garages totaling 7,068 square feet.Scheduled for completed in the summer of 2009, this project was TCHA’s first design-build affordable housing project and was also the pilot project for the Teton County Green Building Initiative.
